LEVEL 1
At this level, SmartZoid introduces concepts of numbers from 1 to 10. Children,
ages 3 to 6 years, will be able to easily understand these ideas. For many in
this age group, parental help may be of the essence. Parents can help children
to find everyday household objects to count, pair, and group, as well as helping
youngsters with basic computer-using skills.
Sublevel 1.1
Students will learn basic concepts of numbers and counting by working through
problems such as: What is 1 more than 3?”, What is 1 less than 2?”, and 7 + 1
= ____”.
Sublevel 1.2
SmartZoid advances the previous concepts slightly by introducing the concept of
2 more than” and 2 less than”, as well as 3 more than” and 3 less than”.
Also, SmartZoid introduces the abstract ideas of big” and small” using numbers
up to 10.
Sublevel 1.3
Students review and reinforce their work from earlier sublevels.
Sublevel 1.4
Here, students' brains will be sparked toward developing an intuitive
understanding of the concept that 10 is the common base for all numbers. What
is 8 more than 10?”, What is 3 more than 10?”, 10 + 3 = ____”, etc. are
examples of the fundamental learning in this sublevel. These basics will help
the child develop a comfort level with numbers, and by extension, with the
number system overall.
Final Review & Test
Students will review all the skills covered at this level. After the review
process, there will be a final test to make sure conceptual understanding is
developing properly, before moving ahead.
