LEVEL 10
At this level, students are first asked to solve algebraic equations. They
deepen their work with
squares and cubes to include negative numbers and working with roots. Also,
students have significant
practice with fractions operations. This level is characterized by a significant
amount of review of
previous levels and sublevels in anticipation of mastery of arithmetic toward
higher level,
algebra-oriented thinking skills.
Sublevel 10.1
Students begin this level expanding work with squares and cubes to include
negative numbers. This
sublevel also introduces the concepts of square roots, cube roots, and perfect
squares.
Sublevel 10.2
Here, students will expand their pre-algebra work to evaluating equations (of
all four operation
types) by substituting in for variables. Also, at this sublevel, students are
first asked to solve
(one-step, one variable) algebraic equations
Sublevel 10.3
Review and reinforcement of concepts covered in previous sections.
Sublevel 10.4
Review and reinforcement of concepts covered in previous sections.
Sublevel 10.5
Review and reinforcement of concepts covered in previous sections.
Sublevel 10.6
In this sublevel, students deepen their practice with operations involving
fractions, with a stronger
emphasis on multiplication and division problems.
Final Review & Test
Students will review all the skills covered at this level. After the review
process, there will be a
final test to make sure conceptual understanding is developing properly, before
moving ahead.
